Slice of Life # 4

Kaylie's Slice Of Life #3:
Today, I am feeling stumped on writing a poem. That is just what I will write about. This poem is ironically called 'I Can't Think Of a Poem'. I think that you will love it.
Write a poem,
My teacher said.
Those words just couldn't get to my head.
A poem?
I thought
I've never written one of those!
What should I write about?
When I stubbed my toes...
Or when I tripped over the garden hose?
I can't think of a poem.
In fact, I won't even try.
The only time
You can make me write
Will be when pigs will fly.
This is not a poem.
You heard me,
Loud and clear.
Poems are just downright
My biggest, HUGEST fear!
I can not write a poem.
No, I won't.
Even if you make me sail
Thirty days on a boat.
I'm getting tired now,
Although I have written few,
This is a poem
Without a doubt.
I agree with you!

Today, along with every Tuesday, I volunteer at the Solomon House. It is a place where food is handed out to the ones who need it. It touches my heart to see those people, so I wrote a haiku about my weekly visit. The name of the haiku is 'Solomon House'.
Open hungry hands
Give food to those who need it
Good feeling inside

In case you don't know how to write a haiku and would like to write one, here are the directions.
1: Choose a topic. Try to think of a noun. Example- Goldielocks and the Three Bears
2: Write your topic down on a sheet of paper. Then write the number five. Skip a line and write the number seven. Skip another line and write the number five again.
Example- Goldielocks and the Three Bears
5
7
5
3: Describe your topic. The first line has five syllables, which is what the 5 stands for. The second line has seven syllables, which is what the seven stands for, and same with the last line. Stay within the syllable limit while describing your topic.
Example-
Goldielocks and the Three Bears
5- Goldielocks and Bears
7- Don't eat the porridge, Goldie
5- Goldie broke the chair
4: Share your new haiku!

Todays recess wasn't so fun. I couldn't run because my ankle was hurt but my friend Ahni cheered me up and I didn't feel sad Then I tried to run and I did.

Kendall's Slice Of Life #2

Today I finished The Tale of Despereaux wich is a story about a mouse, a princess, some soup, and a spool of thread. There is 4 stories in 1 book and 52 chapters too. The mouse was brave, bold, he fought, was different, and all the mice talked. That's why it's a great book.
